ERASURE singer Andy Bell is HIV positive, he revealed today.

The star said he was diagnosed six years ago after falling ill with pneumonia while on a trip to Majorca.

He made the disclosure to a Finnish newspaper and followed it with a statement on his website.

The 40-year-old reassured fans he was doing fine and said: "I have never felt better."

The statement said: "I found out I was HIV positive in June 1998 when I had a bout of pneumonia in Majorca.

Since then I have been taking combination therapy and I am feeling - in fact I have never felt better.

"Being HIV does not mean that you have Aids. My life expectancy should be the same as anyone else's so there is no need to panic.
