The quest to find the next leader of the Park Ridge Public Library moved forward this week as the library board voted to hire a professional search firm.
The library board of trustees on Aug.
15 voted 8-0 in favor of contracting with Vernon Hills-based John Keister and Associates, an executive search firm that specializes in libraries.
The library will pay $16,500 for the firm’s services, which is below the $19,990 budget the board set on July 18.
Initially, Library Co-Interim Director Laura Scott said the board did not need to vote on a contract with a search firm, but that decision was apparently reversed prior to the Aug.
15 meeting.
Scott, who attended the library board meeting by phone, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
The search firm that will work with the Park Ridge Public Library Board was recommended by Trustees Judy Rayborn and Karen Burkum.
The two had interviewed Keister, as well as representatives of two other executive search firms, Rayborn said.
